I’m reflecting on the fact that (at least in the northern hemisphere) our warmest, brightest holidays and traditions occur at the coldest time of year, the time when the days are shortest.
Lately, I have started saying a new bedtime prayer. I vary it, but it’s more or less to this effect, “May love, empathy and wisdom thrive and grow in the hearts, minds and souls of all human beings.”
Now, as I take a break from work for a week or so, I wish each of you the warmth of love, the gift of empathy and the bright light of wisdom during this wonderful season and all through the coming year.
Thank you, Margaret. I appreciate the cup of hot chocolate with a marshmallow – at least that’s what I’m imagining it to be! Greetings from warm – like 85 to 90 degrees – Lagos, Nigeria.

It was about 80 here in Houston on Friday. That evening, an arctic front blew through, dropping temps about 1 degree per minute till we reached an overnight low of about 36. Enjoy your balmy Christmas!
